On September 9, 2026, Andrew Roman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after bravely and courageously fighting glioblastoma for twenty-two months.

Andy was born October 11, 1960, in Petersburg, Virginia to Alfred Rhett Roman and Carole Joyce Edwards Roman.  Andy grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina and graduated from East Carolina University where he met his wife, Ann.

Andy had a love of playing soccer.  He played for Page High School where his team won a North Carolina High School State Championship. Andy continued playing soccer on the East Carolina University men’s team.  Andy also had a love of running.  He ran half marathons and 5K’s, many of which were with both of his daughters. Andy worked for John Deere for 34 years and had many wonderful relationships with his coworkers.

Andy is survived by his wife, Ann Krier Roman, and his two daughters, Maggie and Kaitlyn Roman; father and step-mother, Rhett and Patricia Roman; brothers, Keith and Doug Roman; sisters-in-laws, Joan Krier, Ava Krier and Sara Roman; brother-in-law Mark Krier, and many nieces and nephews.  Andy is preceded in death by his mother, Carole Joyce Edwards Roman.

Andy will be remembered for his kindness, infectious laugh, handsome smile, and love of his family.

A celebration of Andy’s life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 1:00 at The Corners Apartment Clubhouse at 1103 Tonti Way, Durham, NC 27703.  All family and friends are invited to share memories and stories of their time together with Andy.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke Cancer Center, his team of Dr. Justin Low, Cindy Southerland, NP, and Nurse Isabel; and to Duke Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care of our beloved Andy.
