James Sherrill Young

James Sherrill Young - beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and brother to 12 siblings. Sherrill, age 79, was born July 27,1945 on a farm in Johnston County, Wilson Mills, NC to David Wilmer Young and Ida Capps Young, both deceased. At the time of Sherrill's death, he and his family lived in the Archers Lodge community near Lake Wendell, Wendell, NC.. He passed away on December 22, 2024 at Kitty Askins Hospice House, Goldsboro, NC. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Parrish Young, daughter, Jamie Ostergard. He was predeceased by daughter, Cheryl Denise Oxley in 2017. Sherrill was also survived by his two extraordinary grandsons - Logan Oxley and Zoran Ostergard. Surviving siblings are Barbara Hancammom, Charles Young, Glenda McAllister and Paulette Coleman. He was predeceased by 8 siblings. While employed, Sherrill drove a commercial long distance truck for more than 33 years before retirement. He was gone many nights providing for his family but took time to spend with friends and acquaintances when at home; he never met a stranger and could start a conversation with anyone. . He will surely be missed by family and those who knew him well. May he rest in heavenly peace.
