Fannie "Kathleen" Timberlake, 88, of Youngsville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at WakeMed, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 2, 1937, in Vance County, NC, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruby Burroughs. She spent a fulfilling life rooted in love, service, and devotion—to her family, her work, her church, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.
Kathleen dedicated 56 years to a career in mortgage banking, earning the respect of her colleagues and clients through her professionalism, diligence, and kindness. Outside of her career, she had a deep love for nature and found joy in flowers and gardening. For 15 to 20 years, she owned a greenhouse, nurturing both plants and the hearts of those who came through its doors. She was also known for her talent in the kitchen, where she found delight in cooking and canning—an art she lovingly shared with her family.
A woman of strong faith, Kathleen was a lifelong member of Herman Methodist Church and, in recent years, worshipped at Oak Level Christian Church, where she remained active in fellowship and service.
She is survived by her loving children: son Charlie Timberlake (Julie), son Jim Young, and daughter Kathy Holmquist (Todd). She leaves behind a legacy of love in her eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. To them and to so many others, she was affectionately known as “Memaw”—a name that came to represent unconditional love, warmth, and the heart of the family.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Thomas Timberlake; her son, Gene Pulley; and her sister, Florence Pernell.
She will be remembered for her warm spirit, generous heart, and enduring faith. Her legacy lives on in the garden of lives she so beautifully cultivated.
