Barbara Duncan

Barbara R. Duncan, born August 17, 1934, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026.

Throughout her distinguished career as a nurse at Duke Hospital and as a private duty nurse, Barbara touched many lives with her compassion and dedication. Beyond her profession, she was a talented seamstress who enjoyed creating story quilts and working on numerous embroidery projects in her spare time.

Barbara was a devoted member of Bahama Baptist Church, where she actively contributed in many ways to enrich the lives of others.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Jackola. Barbara is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Duncan; daughters Donna Jackola (Mark) and Linda Hamilton; grandchildren Erik Jackola (Iris) and Chris Cox; and great-grandchildren Hadley and Sutton Jackola of Hurdle Mills. She is also survived by other close family members: Teresa and Ted Sawyer, Ronnie Duncan (Dayle), Dale Duncan, and Joe Henderson.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 21st, at Bahama Baptist Church in Bahama, NC. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bahama Baptist Church in memory of Barbara Duncan.
