John Keely, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on October 31, 2026. Born on November 15, 1928, in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, NY, John led a life rich in love and dedication.

John was the cherished son of Arthur and Ellen Keely. He was predeceased by his wives Edna (Divorced) and Diana (Widowed), a sister, two brothers, and his parents, all of whom he held dear and spoke of with fond memories. Their legacy of love and resilience lived on in him, shaping the man he became.

A proud alumnus of NY Poly Tech, John earned an engineering degree with his GI Bill, which paved the way for a successful career as an electrical engineer. He dedicated over three decades of his life to Sperry Unisys, where his expertise and commitment left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the projects he passionately pursued.

John's service to his country was a defining chapter of his life. During World War II, he served in the US Army, even seeing some oversees duty, embodying the courage and steadfastness that would characterize his entire life. His sense of duty and honor extended beyond his military service, as he was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Outside of his professional and service commitments, John was a man of simple joys. He found immense pleasure in watching football, a pastime that connected him with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing Pinochle, a game that brought laughter and camaraderie to countless evenings.

John's greatest pride and joy were his children: William (Julie), Michael (Lisa), Maureen (David), and stepdaughter Susan. He was a devoted father whose love and guidance shaped the lives of his children, instilling in them the values of integrity and kindness. His legacy continues through his four cherished grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and love for life.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers from Transitions Life Care. Their excellent hospitality in the final week of John's life provided comfort and peace, for which the family will be eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's honor to a charity of choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and compassion.

John Keely's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
