June Reed Foster

June Reed Foster of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed
away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, after
a long illness. She was 91 years old.

June was born September 28, 1934, in Milford,
Delaware to George M. Reed Jr. and Esther J. Reed.
She is predeceased by her long-time partner Jim
Demas.

June is survived by her daughter, Melanie Foster of
Raleigh, NC; and sons, Eric Foster of Seaford, DE and
Michael Buckellew of Pensacola, FL; and ex-husband,
Frank Foster.

One of June’s greatest joys was her grandchildren. She
was known affectionately as Gran to Lisa Struve and
Sarah Struve.

June loved all arts and crafts and antiques. She was a member and
President of Dover Newcomer’s Club, Delmarvelous
Quilt Guild, Ocean Waves Quilt Guild, and Spade and
Trowel Garden Club in Delaware. She started the
Christmas Mini-Tour of houses that raised money for
programs at the Kent County Orthopedic School.

She earned an Associate’s degree in Architectural
Engineering from Delaware Technical and Community
College in 1976. She worked at Kaufman’s furniture
store and Fisher Furniture for many years. June
graduated from Milford High School in Milford,
Delaware.

June moved to Raleigh in 2018 and lived at Brighton
Gardens for the past 6 years. We thank the dedicated
staff there who cared for her.

No memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association
alz.org .

City of Oaks Funeral Home and Cremations, Raleigh,
NC oversees arrangements.
