Lynda Terry Pike

Lynda Terry Pike passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 85 years old.
Terry was an exceptionally loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel seen, important, and loved. She always put others before herself and found her greatest happiness in helping those around her.
Born in 1941 to the late Charles B. and Virginia L. Niebling. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Joanne Minton.
Terry is survived by her husband, Richard L. Pike. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, which shows their love and devotion to one another, and this was evident to everyone who knew them. They would always be seen walking hand-in-hand, a simple but beautiful gesture of the love they shared throughout their life together.
Terry and Rich were blessed with two children, Debbie Satterwhite (Ray) and Dan Pike (Joy); grandchildren Ashlea Egerdahl (Tim), Robbie Satterwhite (Ashton) and Brad Scarlett; and great-grandchildren Sebastian and Griffin Egerdahl, and Shep Satterwhite. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the country.
Family meant everything to Terry, and she was happiest when everyone was together. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a wonderful teacher, mentor and game-playing partner, always sharing her time, wisdom, and love. She was also a great cook and baker and always prepared meals for friends and family who were in need or going through difficult times. She especially loved Christmas, filling their well-decorated home with cookies and treats to share with neighbors and family.
Terry and Rich resided in Raleigh, Wilmington, and Belhaven, NC and retired to Wake Forest in 2011. Terry was an active and beloved member of the community where she helped organize and lead neighborhood activities, committees and events, and developed many lasting friendships.
Throughout her life, Terry found countless ways to serve others. She volunteered at a community garden, food banks, churches, literacy programs, and schools. She was especially proud of the retail stores she and Rich owned and operated at the Cotton Exchange in Wilmington.
Terry’s life was defined by kindness, generosity, and service. She gave her time freely, shared what she had, and made people feel cared for. She leaves behind a loving family and many friends, along with countless people whose lives are better because she was part of them.
To say Terry will be deeply missed, is an understatement. If Terry positively impacted your life, please honor her by living her legacy and doing the same for someone else. It will make you feel good and help others with even the smallest gesture.
The world is a better place because Terry was in it, and everyone who knew and loved her is better because of her love and kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 22, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the clubhouse (989 Blue Bird Lane) at the Villas of Wake Forest.
In lieu of flowers or meals, the family asks that donations be made in Terry’s honor to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, an organization whose mission is to improve the lives of people who are blind through guide dogs. This organization deeply resonated with Terry and Rich. Donations may be made at www.guidingeyes.org. Or if you prefer, make a donation to the charity of your choice in her memory.
