Vernon Kennedy, Jr.

Vernon Lee Kennedy Jr., born June 26, 1942, at his grandmother’s house in Cary, crossed over into Glory in the early hours of Monday, May 18, 2026. Vernon was known best by those who loved him as Junior, Daddy, and Grandpa.

Junior is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Jean (Jeanie) Scott, of Willow Spring; his daughter, Lori (Tracy) Henderson; and his son, Vernon III (Angel) Kennedy. He is also survived by his brothers, Marty and Joe, and his sister, Shirley. He was a very proud grandpa to Michael, Noah, Bree, Maggie, Stormy, Hollison, and Daylan, and found smiles in the birth of each great-grandchild born to his family: Lahna, Michael, Grant, Garrett, Malachi, Maddie, and Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Sr. and Bertie D. Kennedy, brother Stacey Demilt; his daughters, Tracy and Tiffany; and his great-grandson, Pearson.

Junior met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early ’90s, and life was never quite the same after. In Jesus alone, we have peace knowing that Daddy is with Him.
