Wayne Dutrow

Wayne Melvin Dutrow, aged 82, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne was born on August 4, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, where he spent his formative years. He received early admission and graduated as a Chemical Engineer from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his MBA while working as a Chemical Engineer at Hercules Inc. After retirement, Wayne studied and received a degree in IT. He worked in IT for several years before retiring again after the birth of Lilah, his first grandchild. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
Wayne worked very hard and was extremely disciplined. He was comically introverted. An ongoing joke was that he would disappear like a ninja towards the end of family dinners to go to his office and read. In the middle of conversation, someone would exclaim, “Wait, where is Wayne??”
He was enthusiastically curious in his intellectual pursuits. He devoured books and read about history, science, and philosophy. He was a deep thinker and spent a lot of time observing world events and reading about history.
He loved vacationing at the beach, particularly around the winter holidays.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anita, his children, Christopher Dutrow and his wife, Alejandra; Kathryn and her husband, Francisco Mendez, and his grandchildren, Lilah Mendez, Ronin Dutrow, and Gaia Dutrow. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him and we are very lucky to have a father whom we miss so much.
