Gary Layman Shepherd
July 2, 1947 – December 3, 2024

Gary Layman Shepherd, 77, passed away on December 3, 2024 at his home in Wake Forest, NC. Born in Roanoke, VA on July 2, 1947 to the late Howard Taylor Shepherd and Virginia Louise Spradlin Shepherd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired in Telecommunications. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Arthur Shepherd, and son, Corey Scott Shepherd; as well as a brother and sister, Howard T. Shepherd, Jr. and Darlene S. Bell, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service (and interment) will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 27, 2025 at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 770 Stadium Drive, Wake Forest, NC 27587.
