William "Rod" Flanary

William "Rod" Flanary, M.D. passed away on September 22, 2021 at Hospice Home in Raleigh, NC after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Dorothy Irene Flanary Carrithers and William Edward Flanary on January 23, 1949. His stepdad, Larry Carrithers, survives.
Rod was a brilliant Internal Medicine physician who practiced for 25 years in Grand Rapids, MI and 12 years at the Purdue University Student Health Center in West Lafayette, IN. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cecele Arrington Flanary and their children, Patrick Flanary (Myrta), Sean Flanary and Matthew Flanary and beloved grandchildren Anabel and Andres. His sisters, Nancy Warmoth (Ron), Priscilla Flanary, Ann McFarland (John), Mary Bowling (Tim) and brothers, Mark Flanary (Elizabeth) and Brian Arrington (Susan). His special Aunt Marty Ray and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
At his request, Rod will be cremated and his ashes returned to Indiana for a memorial gathering at a future date. Memorials in Rod's name may be sent to the Concord Neighborhood Center, Indianapolis, IN. Online condolences to the family may be directed to ceceleflanary@yahoo.com
