Gloria Barber

Gloria E. Barber, age 75, of Stephens Glen, Youngsville, NC died November 9 at her home. Arrangements are with City of Oaks Funeral Home in Raleigh.

Gloria was born September 12, 1946, in the Town of Lorraine, NY, daughter of Alfred and Florence Elliott. She graduated from Mannsville-Manor Central School, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from SUNY Oswego and had a 35 year career with the Orange County NY department of Social Services.

Gloria moved to North Carolina in 2009, and loved her home in the Stephens Glen community, Youngsville, NC.
A marriage to John Barber ended in divorce. Gloria is survived by 8 siblings: Roselyn Elliott (Lester Bares), Richmond, VA, Eleanor Duvall, Ogden, UT, Janet(Jerry) Morris, Tahlequah, OK, Alfred Elliott, Lorraine, NY, Frances Bates, Carthage, NY, Helen Bonaparte, Henderson, NC, Steven (Linda) Elliott, Adams Center, NY, Barbara Tifft, Syracuse, NY, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by a niece, Michelle Perry, and brothers-in-law Michael Bonaparte, and Malcolm Duvall.

Gloria's determination and faith sustained her throughout her life. She was a generous soul who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
