Shirley Murphy

Shirley Ann Murphy, a longtime resident of Cary, NC, died peacefully Saturday January 29, 2022, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ronald Murphy, her parents, Stephen and Vernita Glenn, her son Ronald Hanson, and her grandsons Tyler Johnson and Christopher “Joey” Chezem.
She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Johnson and husband Darran, daughter Kathleen Chezem and husband Christopher, and daughter Patricia Murphy and partner Johnny, her grandson Michael Johnson, granddaughter Tiffany Johnson and husband Robert, and her great-grandchildren Matthew Neely, Evie Stelpstra, Kylie Stelpstra and Scotland Johnson.
Shirley was born in Detroit, Mi, and grew up on her family’s farm in North Dakota. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and golfing with her husband, Ron, and worked for over 35 years as a top selling Avon Representative.
Her family will receive guests to celebrate Shirley’s life, at her home in Cary, NC, on Friday, February 4. Friends are invited to drop in between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. For directions or questions, please contact her daughter at kathychezem@gmail.com.
