William "Buck" Overby

William "Buck" Overby, aged 82, passed away peacefully Friday, July 8, 2022 in Durham, NC, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 30, 1940, to the late Willie and Alice Overby,

Buck lived and worked in Durham, NC for most of his life and enjoyed visiting the Appalachian Mountains with his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara.

Buck is survived by his son, Kevin Overby of Roanoke, VA, two daughters, Tina Helms and Tammy Overby, both of Person County, NC, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three sisters, Maureen Jones of Creedmoor, NC, Barbara Jean Garrett of Durham, NC and Judy Mae West of Pittsboro, NC, and many nieces and nephews, and his caregiver/niece Sarah Flannery of Leasburg, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, William, Jr., Wayne, and Jeffrey, two brothers, Clarence and Rufus, three sisters, Betsy Overby, Lily Overby Lacks, and Ruth Marie Overby Crowder.

The family would like to express its gratitude to his Hock Family Pavilion healthcare team for its services.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
