Geraldine Griggs

Ms. Geraldine "Gerri" Griggs went to her heavenly home Saturday September 17 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
Gerri was born on March 30, 1942 to Ruby Jane Sutton Davis and Thomas Jefferson Davis who preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother and his girlfriend, a son and his wife, 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends who will truly miss her. She was one of a kind and she worked hard all her life. She was a fighter and fought so hard right to the end.
She worked as a Usher at the Duke Energy Performing Arts Center in Raleigh. She made new friends and will be remembered as being one "tough lady" who spoke her mind.
Her other love in life was volunteering at the Garner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10225. She held many positions over the years, such as Auxiliary President, District President, Treasurer, Chaplin, Guard so many. Her absolute favorite was being on the committee that supports the Murdoch Center. The Veteran of Foreign Wars sponsors some residents at the Murdoch Center and the Auxiliary had a special lady who became real close to Ms. Gerri. Ms. Gerri was very passionate about making sure this special lady was shown love on her birthday, Easter, Christmas and any other special time.
She retired from Southern Bell telephone company, she was the first female to climb telephone poles, and also retired from the State Department of Revenue.
Her family will complete her wishes by spreading her ashes at the family gravesite, Saturday October 8 at 10am. Hollywood Cemetery, Pitt Street Farmville NC
There will be a CELEBRATION of Life Sunday November 6 at 1pm held at the Garner VFW Post 10225, located at 1706 West Garner Rd. Garner.
