Raleigh, North Carolina

Age 85.
Died 12/23/2022.

Carole Robinson Scott
Carole Jean Robinson Scott died peacefully December 23, 2022, in Raleigh, North Carolina. She recently turned 85. Carole is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Tom, dear son, Russell, and brother “Sandy” Robinson.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Chris) Cox of Raleigh, and grandchildren Simon and Emilia. They were the absolute light of her life. Carole is also survived by her sisters “Rickie” (Webb) Sherrill, Susan (John) Hinton all of Austin, Texas, sister-in-law Cathy Robinson of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Cleburne, Texas, December 11, 1937, Carole was the oldest child of Francis and Maynard Robinson. She grew up in San Antonio where she attended St. Mary’s Hall and Alamo Heights High School.

Carole majored in Elementary Education at The University of Texas at Austin. While there, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, met and married Tom Scott.

After graduating, she taught third grade at Govalle Elementary School in Austin for several years before moving to Durango, Colorado, where Russell was born.

From Colorado, Carole and her family moved to San Marino, California. There, Julie was born, Russell started school and Carole became involved with PTA and as a school volunteer.

The Scotts briefly moved to Oklahoma City before returning to Texas.

Carole was an active volunteer in the Plano public schools before returning to teaching at Hamilton Park Elementary in Dallas and Bright Horizons Childcare. She touched the lives of many families as evidenced by the sweet cards made by children and letters from parents thanking her for taking good care of their kids.

Carole moved to Raleigh 15 years ago to be closer to her family and experience her grandchildren growing up.

She helped with Sunday School, VBS and alter guild at Christ Episcopal Church.

Carole loved Plano Senior High School football, despite admitting to praying their state playoff runs would end so she could finish her Christmas shopping. The annual Texas v. OU football game was one of her favorite events. Carole also loved family beach trips to Port Aransas, and any gathering that involved family and friends. Her favorite color was yellow, she loved daisies and the family dogs.

The family thanks the caregivers in Terra Bella’s memory care, Amedisys Hospice, Home Instead -especially Stephanie - the staff and her neighbors at Inman Park Apartments and all our friends and family for their kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Cecilia Rawlins Fund, InterAct of Wake County, or the charity of your choice in Carole’s honor.

It would make her happy if you spend some time with family and friends, learn a new word or have some Mexican food.

A celebration of Carole’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

Traditional Funeral

$5866.98

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Aquamation

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home also offers Aquamation. The Aquamation process, often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
