Glenna Smith, age 60, passed away on May 19, 2023. Glenna was born in Tazewell County, Virginia to loving mother Carol Sweeny. She is survived by her children Cristina Adkerson, Dazel Asselstine, and Nathan Asselstine. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren Georgia Adkerson, Wyatt Huchro, Evelyn Asselstine, Lorelai Wood, and Murphy Asselstine as well as another baby on the way. Glenna is survived by her brother Bradley Grubb and her uncles, Larry Allen, Roger Allen, and Bill Allen.

Glenna is predeceased by her mother Carol Sweeny, her daughter Rebecca Lee Halstead and granddaughter Mercedes Jada-Marie Halstead. She is also predeceased by her uncle Donald “Doc” Allen.

A small, family and close friends only service will be held in Wendell, North Carolina on July 1, 2023. Glenna’s life will be celebrated with Christmas in July.

Glenna was known as an adoring grandmother, an avid crafter, and a lover of all things Christmas. She was an outgoing and friendly neighbor and friend. She was known to have “never met a stranger” and could spark conversation with anyone. She will forever be a blessing to her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
