Scott Bergenbush

Scott Bergenbush, 54, passed away on June 22nd, 2023. He was born June 25th, 1968, to John and Patricia Bergenbush. Scott is survived and missed by his loving wife, Maureen (née O’Keefe); daughter, Lauren; son, Scotty; daughter-in-law, Jan; sister, Tammy and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott was predeceased by his father, mother, and older brother, John.
Born in New Jersey, Scott spent most of his childhood in Florida and Pennsylvania before returning to New Jersey where he met his wife, Maureen. The family moved to North Carolina 16 years ago.
Scott spent his entire life devoted to his family and the business that he grew. Throughout his life, he served as a shining example of what a husband, father, and mentor should aspire to. As a husband and father, Scott excelled, idolizing the family that he had grown for himself. His family would often joke about how much he spoiled them and always held them first, even over himself. He worked incredibly hard so that his family would never go without. Over the years, he strived to be the best in anything he did, highly competitive and admired by many for his knowledge and skill which he passed on to many young mechanics and colleagues he took under his wing and helped grow. In his automotive business, he formed lasting friendships with both coworkers and customers alike, and he guided many of his employees who became lifelong family friends and accomplished professionals in their industry.
Scott, an avid Raiders fan, had the personality and charisma to endear people to him easily. He was well-known by his nickname, “Big Guy” who had an even bigger heart. People knew they could trust him, whether it be with their car, friendship, or heart. Like his heart, Scott’s home was always open to those in need, whether they were family members in need of a fresh start or coworkers becoming guests in his home when they had nowhere else to stay. In addition to his caring actions, he had a quick wit and unparalleled ability to bring humor to any stressful situation. You could always count on Scott to make you laugh, no matter how you were feeling.
Scott’s big heart also extended to the many dogs he loved and cared for throughout his life. He leaves behind Hammy, Fred, and Max. But he joins “the army of dogs” he has had waiting for him: Spike, Sarge, Schatzie, Bruce, Raider, and Maggie.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral mass, which will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church at 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex, NC on Friday, July 7th, 2023 at 10:45am.
