JoAnn Whittle

JoAnn Whittle, 66, passed away suddenly but peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was in born in Waterbury, CT and grew up in Agawam, MA. JoAnn spent nine amazing formative years in Japan when her husband was in the Navy. She had lived in NC since 1995. She worked at Duke Medical Center for many years at the International Office and at Duke Regional Hospital. She enjoyed quilting, reading, watching movies, listening to music and going to restaurants. She was a kind person who made an effort to get along with everyone she met. She is predeceased by her parents Bernard and Therese Whittle. She leaves behind three brothers, Larry Whittle (Elsie) of Albuquerque, NM, Bobby Whittle (Patti) of Austin, Texas, Gary Whittle of Floral City, Florida and one sister Debbie Barnes (Chris) of Southwick, MA. And two sisters in law, Susan Kinner (Jan) of Kettering, Ohio and Johanna Gibson of Waikoloa, Hawaii. Two children, Johanna Duff (Hank) and Joy Kwasnick (Mark) both of NC. Four beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Olivia, Sarah, and Evan. And many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
