Ella Mae Wentz

Ella Mae Morgan Wentz, 97, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on January 23nd, 2024. She was born October 17th, 1926, in Hampton, VA and the second daughter of Silas Albert Morgan and Bertie Mae Freeman. Ella met her husband Henry Hillbrath Wentz, at Elon College and they were married June 30th, 1951. They were married over 72 years and were blessed with two sons; Hank, David, and a daughter, Judy.
Ella was a lifelong disciple of Christ and was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed participating in church bake sales and making her famous peanut brittle and pecan pies. Ella was a loving mother, adoring her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a homemaker, Ella used her talents in sewing to make clothing for her children, crocheting Christmas Tree ornaments, knitting and sewing blankets and stuffed animals for her grandchildren.
Ella is survived by her sons Hank (Debbie) and David Wentz, son-in-law Scott Gordley, grandchildren Sayer (Sean) Brosnahan, Geena (Preston) Keyes, Jill, and Justine Gordley, and great-grandchildren Anora Brosnahan and Weston Keyes.
Ella is preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, daughter Judy, and sister Lucille Davis.
There will be a service held at 4PM on Saturday, February 3rd, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 714 E Whitaker Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
