Peter (Pete) Floyd

Peter Charles Floyd departed from our world on February 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born May 12, 1956 in Upper Darby, PA to Jack and Peg (Kim) Floyd and was the youngest of four boys.
Pete grew up in Drexel Hill, PA with frequent family trips to Hershey, Pittsburgh, and the Jersey Shore, where he fell in love with sailing and the sea. As a kid, Pete was a standout catcher and played in sectionals for the Little League World Series. Pete discovered his love of golf while working as a caddy. He grew up an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan (and was ecstatic to celebrate their first Super Bowl win in 2018!). In addition to sports, Pete loved music and playing the piano.
Seeking a new adventure, he attended Loyola University New Orleans and met the love of his life, Mimi Kenny, in 1975. They were soon married and began a family, crisscrossing the southeast during his years in the hospitality business before settling in Raleigh, NC in 1983. He later worked in pharmaceutical sales for several years and greatly enjoyed training and mentoring his teams. For the last few years of his career, Pete was the Director of Sales at Dilworth Coffee.
Pete would tell you his most fulfilling role was being a devoted father and husband. He loved to attend every sporting event his children participated in and took great joy in their accomplishments. Pete loved music and dancing with Mimi. They attended many concerts, hosting awesome tailgates, but some of the best times were the dances and laughs they shared at home.
Pete is predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Mimi (Kenny); daughters Erin Connelly (Dan) of Philadelphia, PA, Becky Floyd (Jon Akins) of Wilmington, NC, and Megan Williams (Kelsey) of Carrboro, NC; son Peter Floyd (Christina) of New York, NY; four grandchildren (Payton, Ella and Rory Connelly and Marlow Williams) and several nieces and nephews. Pete is also survived by his brothers John (Gloria) of Westtown, PA and Mark of Drexel Hill, PA.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr., Raleigh, NC 27608. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Pete Floyd’s name to Educate 2 Envision (www.educate2envision.org).
