Roger Fites

Roger Carl Fites was born on January 2, 1937 to Flossie and Carl Fites in Mishawaka, Indiana. After high school, he served for 2 years in the Navy. He then went to Purdue University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science . He continued his education at the University of Illinois where he obtained his PhD. in plant physiology and plant biochemistry. He married the love of his life, Jan (Bohs) in September of 1959. He was a professor at NCSU for 32 years. His wife Jan preceded him in death on July 5, 2022. He is survived by his three daughters: Kathryn Britt (Gerald), Diane Schifter (Tobias) and Michelle Pettey. He is also survived by five beloved grandchildren: David Ronan (Amanda), Adam Schifter (Emily), Rachel Musgrove (Braxton), Kaitlyn Pettey, Megan Pettey, as well as three great grandsons. He is also survived by his brother Alan whom he regarded as his best friend. He will be very much missed but remembered as a wonderful man in every aspect.

The world lost a truly great man on February 19, 2024 and heaven has gained a wonderful angel where we know he is rejoicing to be reunited with his wife Jan.
