Judith Meade

Judith Grace Justice Meade, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on February 23rd, 2024. She was born August 31st, 1939 to the late Clayton and Evelyn Justice in Bucks County, Pennsylvania (suburb of Philadelphia)

Judy was always involved in school and church activities. She enjoyed spending time with siblings (Joan Craig McDonnell & Clayton “Bud” Justice) and cousins at Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono Mountains on her family’s land. She had great memories of sock-hops, drive-in movies and dancing on American Bandstand with Dick Clark. After moving to Durham, NC in 1970, she worked and retired from the School of Journalism at UNC in Chapel Hill. An avid Tar Heel and Carolina sports fan. She volunteered in many ways from becoming a pink lady in gift shop to president of Auxiliary Board at Duke Hospital. A devout Christian and long time member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church. She loved her family, friends and neighbors in Parkwood of almost 50 years. She suffered with Alzheimer’s living final years with her son & his family. Judy’s children are Marci Watkins, James Meade (Julie) and Andrew Meade (Jennifer). Grandmother to Tyler, Lauren, Paige, Mathew, Christian & Cole. Great granddaughter Hadley.
