Marilyn Basinger

Marilyn Basinger, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1st, 2024, while being cared for in the home of her daughter Donna. A current resident of Franklinton, North Carolina, and Born on October 3rd, 1942, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Marilyn's professional journey was marked by three retirements, each representing a chapter of hard work and commitment. She retired from Reichhold Chemicals and then from Quintiles before dedicating her time to her cherished church, Woodland Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC, where she retired just last year. Her dedication to her work and community exemplified her strong and resilient spirit.
In addition to her remarkable career and adventurous spirit, Marilyn had a passion for reading, puzzles, and spending time at the beach. A woman of boundless energy and love, Marilyn was a constant presence at her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events, always with her signature smile and adorned with her favorite hats. She found joy in traveling with her family, making memories that will be cherished forever. Her love for travel took her to hot-air balloon festivals, where she found pure delight in the colorful skies above, and she even had the opportunity to ride in one, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Marilyn's generosity knew no bounds. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, serving meals after Hurricane Katrina, and was always volunteering with her church missions team, ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her siblings, Jerry Boger (Sandra), and Betsy Boger Safrit (Bobby); her children, Donna Basinger Gardner (Gene), Lewis Basinger (Jessica), James York, and Darrell Basinger (Ashby); her nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Boger and Edith Shuping Boger, and her siblings, Nancy Boger Clendenin, Wilbert Boger Jr, and John Boger.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held on Saturday, May 18th at:
