Charles Tillis

Charles Randall Tillis, 69, of Charleston WV passed away peacefully April 10, 2024, after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine & Floyd Tillis, sister Lennie Dills, and son Jeremy Tillis.

After starting his retail career at The Diamond Department Store, he retired from The Charleston Town Center Mall as a dedicated employee spanning almost 40 years. His tenure included 18 years as the display manager for Montgomery Wards, working as a mall contractor with Royal Supply, and finally serving as an essential member of the CTC marketing team that supported special events and seasonal favorites like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny! Charley never met a stranger, was hard working, helpful, and loved by many.

He is survived by his dearest, Cecilia Long; his children, Shawn Tillis (Amy) of Florida, Cara Emily Tillis (Nick) and Candace Long (Jamie) of North Carolina; grandchildren Austin and Katelyn Tillis; his nieces, great nephews, and a city full of friends.

In lieu of a service Charley would want everyone to share a story or a laugh over coffee, so on his birthday, June 23, stop by your favorite coffee shop and do just that! We would also like to thank everyone for the care he received from CAMC & Hospice and ask that donations be made in his memory to a local hospice organization near you.
