Karen Chryst

Karen Elaine (Street)Chryst, age 67, of Kings Mountain, NC passed away the night of July 4, 2024 just in time to view the fireworks from Heaven.

Karen was born July 5, 1956 in Bangor, Maine, daughter of the late Edward and Patricia (Patch) Street and was the wife of 35 years to the late Douglas Chryst.

Karen was an elementary school teacher for 28 years teaching grades 2-5 until her retirement in 2021. Upon retirement she was able to thoroughly enjoy her gardening hobby and role of Nana to her six grandchildren Cosette, Nevaeh, Zachary, Madeleine, Myles and Zoa.

Surviving her are her three daughters, Megan Stangl & husband Lucas, Rachelle Messer & husband Logan, and Victoria Chryst-Cardona & husband Charles. Also surviving her are her three siblings, Kevin Street, Keith Street & wife Nicolette, and Kelly Schwuchow & husband Michael, brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Karen is preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Dwayne and Marjorie Chryst.

Karen's Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Oxford Presbyterian Church in Oxford, NC with Alan Koeneke officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Guests are requested to wear bright, "happy" colors for their attire in honor of Karen's love of bright flowers.
