Sally Cope Huhn

Sally Cope Huhn, 80, passed away in Goldsboro, NC on September 6, 2024. She was born on March 4, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia to the late James Epinger and Mary Louise Cope. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Fredrick Huhn II (Walt), whom she married in 1977 and spent 47 years together before his death.
Sally is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Shelby and Scott Thomas; grandsons, Payton, Sam and Hunter Thomas of Four Oaks, NC. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, James Cope Jr. of Clayton GA; Edward Cope (Beth), Debbie Hosey (John), and Neal Cope (Becky) of Savannah, GA.
Sally graduated from H.V. Jenkins High School of Savannah, GA and Weslyn College in Macon, GA. Sally absolutely loved working with children as the Aquatics Director for the Jewish Community Center in Atlanta before moving back to Savannah and marrying Walt and welcoming Shelby. They moved to Charlotte, NC in 1979 and resided there for 43 years and where they took frequent trips to Savannah and Fripp Island to spend time with family and friends. For years, while in Charlotte, Sally and Walt were devoted members of Sovereign Grace Church. Sally's strong Christian faith led her to help others throughout her life- after retirement she enjoyed volunteer work at the Matthews Help Center, the Carrington House and making memories with her grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 12, 2024 at Southbridge Fellowship 12621 Strickland Rd., Raleigh, NC at 11:00 am. The Family will receive friends for visitation from 10:15 am-10:45 am, prior to the service at the church.
