In Loving Memory of
Rudolph “Rudy” Tempesta

Rudy was a proud Italian from Brooklyn, New York. He served his county during World War II as a ball turret gunner in the US Air Force, stationed in Europe. Upon returning home he joined the United States Postal Services as a mail carrier and fought for worker rights as president of his local chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He retired at age 85 as the longest active mail carrier in USPS history. He is survived by three of his five children: Erica, Nick, and Alex, and his grandchildren Krista, Seeger, Hazel and Lyla, as well as his two great grandchildren, Harper and Avery. He was beloved in the Chapel Hill community for his years of service as a mail carrier and big talker, and he will be greatly missed.
