With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Lee Hughes, 58, of Reidsville, NC, who left this world on February 7, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Born in Granville County on October 11, 1966, Gary was the beloved son of the late Curtis W. and Betty J. Hughes. A man of many talents and an adventurous spirit, he embraced a life full of experiences—from truck driving and working as an elevator mechanic to the thrilling challenge of being an Alaskan crab fisherman. But above all, his greatest joy came from the time spent with his loving wife, Debra, and his cherished stepdaughter, McKayla.

Gary was a man who lived on his own terms—strong, hardworking, and full of stories to share. He leaves behind his sisters, Barbara and Cynthia; his brothers, Wayne and Tony; his devoted stepdaughter, McKayla B. Reagan, and her husband, Christian S. Reagan. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Debra, and his parents, Curtis and Betty, in eternal peace.

Per his wishes, no formal service will be held. Those who knew and loved Gary will carry his memory in their hearts, remembering his strength, his humor, and the love he shared.
