Ezra Weiss

Ezra Paul Weiss, born April 1, 1981, died at home on February 27, 2025 after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. Ezra was a loyal friend who dove into life with abandon. His curiosity led him to a life of adventure. A talented trim carpenter, Ezra was good with his hands. He loved cooking and creative projects. Whether gazing at the stars or kayaking down a river, Ezra had a deep connection to nature. He was also strongly connected to other people, interested in their stories and generous with his possessions. Children congregated to him, drawn by his sense of humor and his sense of wonder. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Cindy Weiss of Fuquay, his daughter, Brianna Mannise of Erwin of whom he was immensely proud, his sister Hannah Goldstein, her husband Greg and children Reid and Meriweather of Raleigh, and his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly and will miss his open heart. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rupert and Doris Weathers and Paul and Barbara Weiss and his uncles Gary Weathers and David Mangum. The family would like to thank his caregivers at Duke Health and Transitions Hospice Care for their compassionate attention. An outdoor memorial service will be held at Camp Agape, 1369 Tyler Dewar Ln, Fuquay-Varina, on Thursday, March 6 at 1:00 pm. Assemble at the Woodland Center for the 10 minute hike to the lakeside chapel. (Dress comfortably.) Donations in Ezra’s memory can be made to Healing Transitions, www.healing-transitions.org.
