Amy Annette Hahn, 53, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and lived a life marked by quiet strength, thoughtfulness, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

A skilled and dedicated programmer, Amy brought intelligence and care to her work. She found joy in walking, hiking, skiing, spending time at the beach, and had a lifelong love of horses that brought her comfort and peace.

Amy shared a close and enduring bond with her longtime partner, Wilbur Tan. Their relationship was deeply meaningful, and the recent loss of Wilbur has added to the sorrow felt by all who loved them both.

Amy’s life was also marked by personal challenges. She lived with alcoholism, a struggle that ultimately led to her passing. Her journey was not defined by this illness alone, but also by her resilience, warmth, and the love she gave to others.

She is survived by her son, David O. Hahn, and daughter-in-law, Samantha Hahn; her brothers, Steven R. Hahn and David M. Hahn; and many extended family members and friends who will carry her memory with them.

A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:

Facing Addiction with NCADD, supporting those impacted by substance use
Veterans Services of the Carolinas (VSC), in remembrance of Wilbur, supporting suicide prevention for veterans across North Carolina: abccm-vsc.org/suicide-prevention
Amy will be remembered for her intelligence, quiet presence, and enduring care for those she loved.
