Salvador “Chavo” Chavez

Salvador “Chavo” Chavez, 95, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. He was reunited in eternity with his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria Elena Velez Chavez (Helen), and daughter, Melissa Marie Chavez Nguyen.

Salvador was born on November 2, 1929, in Gary, IN. He answered the call to service and enlisted in the Army. He was a family man who loved the Lord. He attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church regularly and enjoyed a simple life and didn’t require much to make him happy.

Salvador leaves his devoted daughter, Sandra (Leo) Ortiz; 5 cherished grandchildren and 1 precious great granddaughter; his brothers: David Chavez, Robert Chavez and Richard Chavez; loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held April 28th, 2025 at 1 PM EST at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 520 W. Holding Avenue, Wake Forest, NC 27587. Burial will be at St. Catherine of Siena Memorial Garden right after the funeral mass.
