Karen Kim Anderson
Karen Kim Anderson, born Karen Kim Miner, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 59. Though her passing was sudden, the peaceful nature of her departure brings comfort to her family and friends.
Born on September 26, 1965, in Springfield, Vermont to Bonnie Gale (Anderson) and Earl Denison Miner Sr., Kim was the youngest of three siblings. After tragically losing her mother at the age of one, she and her siblings were raised alongside their 5 aunts and uncles by their maternal grandparents, Robert and Margery Anderson.
When she was only 18, she traveled from Vermont to Austin, Texas, with her Uncle Cliff. Texas became her new home - where she had two wonderful children, Joshua and Bonnie, whom she adored until the very end.
Kim was generous, compassionate, articulate, dedicated, and hard-working. She organized a shoe drive out of her living room and delivered warm home cooked meals to people that were unhoused. She was very active and fundamental to the expansion of her local Buy Nothing Project group and served as an admin in various neighboring groups. She helped many and developed lasting friendships through her networking. In her free time, she served as a Voter Deputy Registrar for Travis and Williamson Counties.
Her talents included sewing beautiful garments and event coordination. She was extremely organized in her personal and work life. She worked as an executive assistant for many years and then found great joy in caring for the elderly and pet sitting. She was a talented writer and also had a knack for making people laugh with her wry humor. She loved family, dogs, magnolias, and hummingbirds. She also had a passion for politics.
Kim is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, and her brother Earl Miner Jr. She is survived by her sister Angelica Joy and brother-in-law Scott Fleming of Eugene, Oregon; son Joshua and daughter-in-law Stacey Gamboa; daughter Bonnie Krosl and her partner Grant Bautista; step-daughter Nena and her husband Michael Rodriguez Jr.; and step-son Richard and his wife Rachael Gamboa. She is also survived by three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren, all of greater Central Texas.
A memorial service will be held Friday June 6, 2025 at 6PM at 1030 County Road 279 Liberty Hill, TX 78642. We asked that you contact a family member for further details.
