Obituary
Tonia Cavender

Henderson, North Carolina

Age 55.
Died 04/08/2025.

Tonia Cavender
Tonia Moore Cavender, age 55, of Henderson, North Carolina, was welcomed into her heavenly home on April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous seven-year battle with Lymphoma Cancer.

Born on February 26, 1970, to Edwin G. Moore Jr. and Nina Searcy Moore, Tonia was the cherished youngest child, lovingly dubbed the "perfect child" by her family. Growing up, she was a shy little girl, but as she blossomed into adulthood, her vibrant personality shone brightly. Tonia spent her early years in Tennessee and Chicago before returning to North Carolina at the age of 13, where she continued to create lasting memories with her family.

After graduating from Friendship Christian School, Tonia began her career at Golden Corral, where her outgoing nature and warm spirit made her a beloved waitress. She later found her true calling at NCJUA / NCIUA in 2001, where she worked her way up to Senior Underwriter and contributed to the Information Technology team. Tonia was not only respected by her colleagues but was also deeply loved by her team, who became like family to her.

Tonia was a devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and beloved Mimi. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, known for her humor and her refreshing honesty. Tonia's greatest joy came from her family; she was a steadfast caregiver to her mother in her final days and was a constant support to her father. Even during her own struggles with illness, Tonia prioritized the well-being of her loved ones.

Her children were her pride and joy, and she embraced her role as their confidant, therapist, personal expert on everything, and friend. The arrival of her grandchildren brought her immeasurable happiness, and she was known for her generosity, always having "McDonald's money" at the ready. Tonia found true fulfillment in her marriage to Kelly, often expressing that her life was complete with him by her side.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Tonia exhibited remarkable bravery, dignity, and grace. Her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior provided her with strength and comfort, and she faced her journey with the knowledge that a beautiful home awaited her beyond this life.

Tonia is preceded in death by her beloved niece, Deborah Sue Varney, her mother, Nina Searcy Moore, who shares the same date of passing and her father  Edwin G. Moore jr. She is survived by her sister, Tammy Rothwell (Dan); her daughters, Kim Ramsey (Will) and Jessica Cavender; her son, Brandon Cavender; her husband, Kelly Cavender; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Roberts, Bentlee Green, and Kinsley Ramsey; her niece, April Franks (Jay and their children, Brooklyn and Bentley); her nephew, Jon Daniel; and many others who considered her a second mother and friend.

A celebration of Tonia's life will be held on April 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Moose Lodge, located at 191 Moose Loop Rd, Louisburg, NC 27549. Family and friends are invited to come share their favorite stories and memories of Tonia, honoring the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

icon
Traditional Funeral

$6081.48

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Aquamation

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home also offers Aquamation. The Aquamation process, often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
