Carolyn Wolf
**In Loving Memory of Carolyn Wolf**

Carolyn Helen (Goldschmidt) Wolf born on July 22, 1941 in Dayton Ohio went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2025 in Raleigh North Carolina after a 5 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She passed peacefully in close contact with her loved ones.

Carolyn grew up in Dayton Ohio in a close-knit family of German and Lithuanian immigrant heritage as the eldest of three children to Gilbert and Catherine Goldschmidt. At the age of nine, her mother became ill while pregnant with her third child, Carl. The burden of raising three young children alone was heavy for their father, so Carolyn and her brother Jim lived with several relatives briefly before moving to St. Joseph’s Orphanage in 1950 at the ages of 9 and 8, respectively. Carolyn and Jim attended St. Anthony’s School while living at the orphanage until Carolyn entered Julienne High School at which time they both moved back home with their dad in 1955. Carl, having lived with their Aunt Elvira and Uncle John from 1950 until 1963, moved back when their mother recovered. All five family members were reunited in 1963 under the same roof at 344 Illinois Avenue in Dayton. It was during these challenging and formidable years, that Carolyn, Jim, and Carl would develop a strong bond that would carry into Carolyn’s last years and days of her life.

After graduating from Julienne High School in 1959 with honors, Carolyn studied business education at the University of Dayton to become a secretary, because that is what her dad thought was best for her and young ladies at the time. Carolyn received her Associate Degree in Business Education with honors from the University of Dayton and went on to work as a secretary at the Dayton Power & Light Company. She was highly skilled in this vocation, evidenced by her role as the secretary for Chief Counsel at DP&L.

Carolyn married John Wolf of Dayton Ohio, and they had two sons, Michael and David. John and Carolyn separated in 1980, and Carolyn moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. She went on to receive her BSBA in Economics at Meredith College in Raleigh in May of 1982, achieving a long-time personal goal. This served as the basis for what would become a highly successful 35-year career filled with numerous awards and accolades as a real estate agent for Fonville Morrisey (now Long and Foster).

Beyond her career, she was deeply committed to her community, finding joy in volunteering at the museum, where she shared her love for art with others. She had a deep appreciation for beauty, whether in paintings, nature, or the companionship of animals. Carolyn embraced life with energy, staying active and engaged in the world around her, grounded by her faith and her devotion to family.

Proud of her heritage, Carolyn overcame challenges with grace and determination, growing into a strong-willed and independent woman who inspired those around her.

She is survived by her brother, Carl Goldschmidt (Carole), her sister-in-law, Sharon Goldschmidt, her dear companion and partner of the past 26 years Timothy Vicknair, and beloved son, David Wolf (Tina), and her cherished granddaughters, Kelsey Wolf, Maia Wolf, and Julia Wolf.

Carolyn's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 14th, in the Chapel at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of the Neuse Rd. Raleigh, North Carolina 27609.

Live streaming of service at https://saintraphael.org/funerals.

Memorial Donations may be made in Carolyn’s name to St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of the Neuse Rd. Raleigh, North Carolina 27609.

Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

icon
Traditional Funeral

$6081.48

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Aquamation

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home also offers Aquamation. The Aquamation process, often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
