Hana Salwa Janet Soufi, 24, passed away on June 17, 2025.

Hana was born to Waleed and Denise Soufi on January 30, 2001 in Trenton, NJ. She spent the first half of her life in West Windsor, NJ and moved to North Carolina in 2013. A student at Guilford Technical Community College, she was a prolific artist and a singer and guitarist who performed at a number of venues in Greensboro. Hana was a keen observer of wildlife and a lover of animals. She had a sharp intellect that led her to explore many avenues of interest, particularly issues of social injustice and environmental degradation. Above all, she had a gentle soul that touched everyone she met with love and kindness.

She leaves behind her parents, Waleed and Denise; her step-parents, Hiba Ghanem and Joseph Copp; her brothers, Hadi and Ahmad Soufi; her grandparents, Moustapha Soufi, Salwa Jarrah, William Norby, and Janet Norby; her aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends in New Jersey and North Carolina. Her loved ones are devastated by her loss, and she will be missed more than she could know.

A memorial service in her honor was held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in Chapel Hill. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Orange County Animal Services
(www.orangecountync.gov/2997/Animal-Services).
