Mark Kueny
In Loving Memory of Mark Alan Kueny

Mark Alan Kueny passed peacefully on September 21, 2025, after a short yet valiant battle with metastatic cancer—a fight he faced with unwavering courage and grace.
Born May 9, 1961, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Richard Kueny and Beverly (Bower) Kueny, Mark’s life was a remarkable journey of resilience, creativity, and love.

He is cherished and survived by his devoted daughters Trista Herrera and Caitlin Kueny, his beloved mother Beverly (Bower) Houston, sisters Monica Kueny and Cynthia Houston, brother Jim Houston, niece Tasha Feenan, great nephews Phoenix Feenan, Anthony Figueroa, Marcello Figueroa, and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Growing up in a proud military family, Mark moved often—across states and oceans to places as far-reaching as Taiwan—before graduating high school in Okinawa. With each new location, Mark eagerly explored his new surroundings. Those travels with his family shaped his adventurous spirit and instilled a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and experiences.

Mark’s love of cars led him first to a career as an auto mechanic, where he earned multiple certifications, including Master Mechanic. His keen eye for detail and his easy connection with people soon carried him into management as a dealership service manager, and later into a successful career as a mortgage loan officer. In every role, Mark’s kindness and tireless dedication guided families toward their dreams of home and stability.

A gifted artist from childhood, Mark created drawings of striking precision and beauty—beginning with the cars he adored and expanding to animals, landscapes, and portraits. His creativity also came alive in his own home and garden, where his careful craftsmanship and artistic touch can still be felt in every corner.

Mark loved to move, to live fully. He played sports in high school, embraced running and fitness in later years, and found joy in live music and dancing with friends. Even as cancer arrived suddenly and fiercely, he remained hopeful and strong; his spirit outlasted the illness, his optimism shining until his final moments.

Mark was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Details of a celebration of his life will be shared soon, as we come together to honor the man whose laughter and steadfast heart touched so many.

Immediate Burial

$2497.50

An immediate burial has the same end result as a traditional burial; however, we have eliminated the extra (sometimes unnecessary) services prior to getting to the cemetery. Not everyone wants an open casket for viewing or a limousine for the family. Despite the term immediate, we can move as fast as you need or as slow as you like. This option simply allows you to save money by eliminating some of the fancy extras at the funeral home.

icon
Traditional Funeral

$6081.48

We offer the same traditional funeral services as the big corporately owned funeral homes in the area; however, we cost about half the amount. You might consider a traditional funeral service if your family is looking for an open casket visitation, a traditional church service or a funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. A traditional funeral service can be altered to fit the needs of your family.

Green Burial

$3033.75

This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our Green options allow for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Aquamation

$2640.59

As an alternative to traditional cremation, City of Oaks Funeral Home also offers Aquamation. The Aquamation process, often referred to as alkaline hydrolysis, uses a solution of water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition.
