Leona Wald

Lee passed away on January 1, 2026, in her and her husband’s apartment in Raleigh, North Carolina. Transitions Hospice gave great aid in her final months, in addition to the care of her husband and caregivers Marie and Arsenia. She was born December 16, 1930, in Manhattan, New York City, into an orthodox Jewish family. She attended Brooklyn College, majoring in visual arts and concentrating on photography and worked as an art director for Warner Brothers in Fort Worth, Texas. After moving to North Carolina, Leona studied teaching English as a Second Language and was an ESL instructor for a number of years in the Durham community college system. Leona continued her pursuit of photography after retiring, winning several first prizes for her work. She is survived by her husband, Walter Marinetti, her sister-in-law, Shirley Wald, of New York City, and Shirley’s two daughters. Walter Marinetti may be contacted at marinettiwalt@bellsouth. net.
