Brian Lee Herring, 61, passed from this life surrounded by family and friends, on Wednesday January 7, 2026, at Duke Health Raleigh. He was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and bravely battled this disease. He is the son of the late Benjamin Earl Herring and Marie Outland Herring of Goldsboro. He was predeceased by his brothers, Benjamin ( Benny )Earl Herring Jr., Robert Lyn Herring, and sister June Marie Herring.
Brian is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, UNC Wilmington, and the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh. He was formerly employed by Nortel Networks for 13 years, and Impressive Designs in Raleigh. He has been employed by NC State University at the Biomanufacturing and Training Center for the past 18 years.
An artistic and creative soul, he and Roger found a creative community within Interplay. Brian is a master story teller, movement extraordinaire, and a masterful Interplay Leader.
He is survived by his life partner, husband, and best friend, Roger Adkins, many wonderful cousins from the Herring and Outland Families, and as a beloved Uncle to his nieces and nephews from the Adkins Family.
A celebration of life will be held at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday February 14, 2026 at 10:00 am.
