Lester Charles Godbold

Lester Charles Godbold, affectionately known as Les, unexpectedly left us on the morning of January 14, 2026. Born on October 4, 1947, in Orlando, Florida, Les was the beloved son of Rose Landry and Charles Thomas Godbold. He spent his formative years in Orlando, where he graduated from Bishop Moore Catholic High School before continuing his education at Georgia Tech and UCF.

Les's full professional career began at IBM while he was still in college, a career that took him across various states including NC, Florida, Texas, New York and even South Africa. After dedicating 25 years to the company, he retired, leaving behind a rich legacy of hard work and commitment.

Les always enjoyed traveling, especially to destinations where casinos were available. He also loved boating, fishing, golf, and drinking Manhattans and he loved his cats

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Blankenhorn Godbold, and his daughters, Jennifer (Bill Mooney) and Penny (Jason Ricci). Les was also a proud grandfather to three grandsons: Wyatt and Malcolm Ricci and Floyd Jones. In addition, he leaves behind two stepsons, William Allen IV (Stuart) and Seth Rudd (Azure).

In honoring Les's memory, a private family event will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to With Love From Jesus, Raleigh, NC.
