Dorothy Althouse

Dorothy passed in her sleep on February 28th to be reunited with her husband, Clair, who pre-deceased her by 34 years. She is survived by her son, Chris, with wife Gail, and her daughter, Lisa, with husband David. She is beloved grandmother to Christopher, Connor, Lauren and Matthew.
Dorothy grew up in Allentown, PA and moved to the Bay Area of California as a young adult, where she and Clair raised their children. She returned to college in her adult years to obtain her RN license and was a dedicated hospital nurse until retirement. She then followed her daughter to North Carolina to enjoy her retirement years.
Dorothy loved being around people and cherished her memories of family gatherings and trips with close friends. She was deeply loved by many. With an adventurous spirit, she was an avid snow skier, scuba diver, and traveler. She was naturally creative and did beautiful cross-stich work, leaving behind many pieces that her family will cherish.
In her later years, Dorothy grew to love dogs and realized the positive impact they have in people’s lives. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saving Grace Animals for Adoption of Wake Forest, NC. www.savinggracenc.org
