A bright light in the Universe went home to the lord this week.
Laura Ellen Weber Marquis, age 65, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on May 16, 1960, in Waukegan, Illinois, Laura lived a life filled with love, creativity, and resilience.

Laura is survived by her devoted husband, John Marquis; her two daughters, Christina Marquis and Catherine Coulter; and her cherished grandchildren, Riley, Autumn, and Aidan. She was a loving mother and grandmother who found immense joy in the time she spent with her family.

An artist at heart, Laura expressed herself through painting and gardening. Her vibrant artwork and flourishing gardens were reflections of her creative spirit and deep appreciation for beauty. She also had a passion for cooking and travel, which brought her countless memorable experiences. A woman of faith, Laura found comfort and community in her church life.

Despite facing lifelong health challenges, Laura’s strength and determination shone brightly. She embraced life fully and inspired those around her with her unwavering positivity and zest for living.
Laura’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her legacy of love and creativity continue to bring comfort to those she leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church 7506 Falls of Neuse Rd. The family will greet people after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
