Derek Tolbert

Derek Devon Tolbert was born on May 14, 1956 to the late John Lee Tolbert and his surviving mother, Jimmie Lee Tolbert. He was born in North Kingston, Rhode Island. He fell asleep in death on March 8, 2026.

On August 14, 1982 he married his beautiful wife Monica Tolbert. She was not alone though, she already had a son name Andre. They went on to have two more children Neenah and Shelly. Derek dedicated his life to Jehovah when he was an adult. He was baptized on February 28,1988. Derek loved teaching others about the Bible. He often shared this hope with anyone who would listen. He was the happiest when he was doing all that he could for Jehovah whether it was preaching or helping ones in the congregation.

Derek is survived by his devoted wife Monica to whom he was married for 43 years; their three children Andre (Monique), Neenah (Roberto) and Shelly, also 2 grandchildren Jonah and Ava. Derek is also survived by his mother Jimmie Lee Tolbert, his siblings Jackie Tabor, Johnny Tolbert, Valencia (Lindy) Fisker. Derek is preceded in death by his brother Anthony Tolbert. He was known as Uncle Derek by his nieces and nephews, Montella, Clarence, Shiri, Jay, Lauren, and Brittany.

Derek loved his family. He loved to attend their weddings and graduation ceremonies. Derek was especially known for his passion for tennis, golf, running, and music. He was also known for his sense of humor. Although we long to see him now, Derek strongly believed in the resurrection hope; that Jehovah will wake him up again and will welcome him back to a Paradise Earth. So we will not say goodbye. We will say see you SOON!!!
