Mark Samuel Quakenbush, 41, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at home, with his wife, Katherine, by his side and surrounded by family and friends. He bravely fought cancer for almost two and a half years, yet never lost his sense of humor or his ability to tease those he loved. He was born in Raleigh on February 4, 1985. Mark was baptized at Buies Creek First Baptist Church. He enjoyed participating in the youth group and serving on mission trips. Mark also enjoyed spending time with his dad in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from NC State University with a degree in electrical engineering and spent his career as a Professional Engineer, licensed in multiple states and in Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his bicycle, and playing the mandolin and violin. He was particular about his coffee and beer, and loved a good meal.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Katherine, and his daughter, Hannah; his parents, Win and Anne Quakenbush, of Buies Creek; his sister, Ruth, and her husband, Ross Jernigan, of Greensboro; his mother-in-law, Sharon Oast, of Cary; his sister-in- law, Courtney, and her husband, Patrick Easters, of Apex; his nephews, Davis and Brooks Jernigan; his nieces, Nora and Eva Easters; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Mary Best and Rev. Aubrey and Sally Quakenbush, and by his father-in-law, Mercer Oast.

A memorial service will be held on April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Vintage Church, 118 S. Person St., Raleigh, NC. A reception will follow the service.
