Lynda M. Gamble

Lynda M. Gamble, 79, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born on February 1, 1947, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Lynda was the daughter of Joan Rattlidge McKiernan and Charles McKiernan.
Lynda graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1967 with a degree in education. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, where she shared her love of learning with her students.
On December 27, 1969, she married Frank J. Gamble III, with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
Later in life, Lynda returned to school to pursue her passion for books and literacy. She earned her degree in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island in 1998. She then served as a Children's Librarian at the Peacedale Library, where she shared her lifelong love of reading with others.
Lynda was devoted to education, literature, and her family. She touched many lives through her work as both a teacher and librarian, and she will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence, and gentle spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Gamble III, in 2019; her brother, Michael McKiernan, in 2021; and her parents, Joan and Charles McKiernan.
She is survived by her only daughter, Jennifer Burdette (formerly Jennifer Gamble); her son-in-law, Kyd Burdette; and her two beloved grandsons, Cole and Jake.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made by supporting your local library.
Lynda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
