Jon Michael Sacripanti, 59, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on May 28, 2026.

Born on November 10, 1966, in Steubenville, Ohio, Jon was the son of the late Ernest and Doris Sacripanti. He was also preceded in death by his niece Nikki Sacripanti.

Jon was a graduate of Weir High School, where he earned recognition as an All-Star baseball player. Being a lifelong supporter of anything Pittsburgh, sports remained a big part of Jon's life.

From sharing his knowledge to coaching, sports became one of the best bonds he developed with his family. Later in life, he especially loved and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. He created a space for patience, laughter, and lasting memories through coloring and having “dance parties” with them.

Jon worked for many years as a long-haul truck driver. Those who knew him best knew him as a quiet, gentle, sensitive soul who carried both deep love and deep burdens throughout his life. Beneath his calm nature was a fragile heart, and while he often faced struggles privately, he continued to care deeply for the people around him.

Above all, Jon loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Laverne Samuels; his children, Jennifer Stewart and her husband, Lee; Mark Samuels and his fiancée, Emilee Lamora; and Melanie Samuels and her fiancé, Unique Jennings; and his beloved grandchildren, Brianna Hudgins, Makayla Jennings, and Makenna Jennings.

He is also survived by his brother, Ray Sacripanti Sr. and his wife, Liz; his sister, Cindy Morgan and her husband, Edward; and many loving extended family members, including Ray Sacripanti and his wife, Tracy; Damion Sacripanti; Kamela Niskach and her husband, Matt; and Sarah Fabian. He was also deeply loved by his great-nieces and great-nephews: Keagan, Kadian, Johnny, Benny, Zach, Dominic, Evan, Kendall, Hailey, and Harleigh.

Jon will be remembered for his soft heart, his love for family, his passion for sports, and the quiet moments he shared with those closest to him. His presence, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

The family acknowledges that Jon struggled silently in ways many may never have fully seen. They hope his memory encourages compassion, understanding, and kindness toward others who may be carrying unseen pain.

A private gathering for immediate family will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by City of Oaks Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Wake County in Jon’s honor.
