Albert R. Miner

Albert R. Miner, July 28, 1935- August 27, 2026, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Cary, North Carolina.
Bert grew up in North Creek, New York, a quaint little town along the Hudson River in the Adirondacks and enjoyed many adventures with his 4 siblings and childhood friends. After his marriage to Helen Sheridan he was transferred to Cary, NC where he lived for 36 years and raised 4 wonderful children. After retiring from IBM where he worked for 33 years, he and his wife followed their roots back to “God’s country” where they built their retirement home on the side of a mountain. Their last move was back to Cary to be closer to family.
Bert will be remembered for the love he gave so freely to his family. To his wife of 63 years, Helen, he was a devoted husband and lifelong companion.
Family was at the heart of who he was. He treasured holidays and gatherings, shared stories and laughter, and the simple moments spent together. His love was expressed not only in words, but the countless ways he showed up for the people he cared about- offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, and making sure those around him knew they were loved. He was a die-hard Wolfpack fan who held season tickets to NC State baseball and women’s basketball. He loved playing cards, building furniture in his workshop and giving rides to the little ones on his wheelchair.
His love of God and enduring faith was a powerful witness. He made wooden crosses for every family member and many members of his parish. He was a devout Catholic who attended church, enjoyed singing hymns with all his might and praying the rosary.
He leaves behind a legacy that will live on through his family: in the lessons he taught, and memories he created, the traditions he passed down, and the love he gave so generously. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his family will carry his memory with them always.
Bert is survived by his 4 children and their families: Rick (Jamie), Terrie (David), Cindie (Todd), Beckie (Bill), as well as 5 grandchildren (Dan, Corrie, Rachel, Tracie, Luke), 4 great grandchildren (Eli, Elliot, Raleigh, Lincoln) and is also survived by his sister, Andie Waldron.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen, parents Andrew and Theresia Miner, and 3 siblings Rose, Tillie, and John.
A celebration of life and Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church located at 625 Magdala Place, Apex, North Carolina, 27502.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Creek Depot Museum, P.O. Box 156, North Creek, NY, 12853: phone 518-251-5842.
