Amy Yardis
Amy Yardis, 61, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at her home.
Amy was born in Princeton, New Jersey, to Joseph and Lois Yardis. She spent part of her childhood in Chappaqua, New York, before her family moved to Southern Pines, North Carolina, where she graduated from Pinecrest High School. Later, Amy moved to Raleigh and called the area home for many years.
Amy was truly one of a kind—joyful, vibrant and outgoing, with a smile that could light up a room. A natural conversation starter, she could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and had a wonderful way of making people feel immediately welcome.
Empathetic and encouraging, Amy genuinely cared about others.
Music was an important part of Amy’s life. She was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of the local music scene in the greater Raleigh area and loved going out to hear live music. A true “dancing queen,” Amy loved to dance and brought her infectious energy and enthusiasm wherever she went.
Amy also loved her cats, craft projects, taking walks and spending time outdoors. When her health allowed, she enjoyed riding her bike and especially loved the ocean. She was so happy to have made a trip to the beach just a few weeks before her passing—a place that always brought her joy.
Amy met life with courage, resilience and an unmistakable spirit. No matter what came her way, she kept moving forward with determination and remained uniquely herself.
Her warmth, empathy and infectious smile made her a bright light to those around her.
She encouraged others, welcomed people in and had a special way of making them feel seen and valued.
Amy is survived by her four brothers, Bob, Jeff, Mick and Mark Yardis, and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Lois Yardis.
A tribute to Amy is being planned on OCTOBER 4, DANCE IN PEACE at SAINTS & SCHOLARS PUB from 1-7:00pm in the Raleigh, NC A Celebration of Life will be held in Middletown, Connecticut, at a later date.
