Andrew Mark Landes

Andrew Mark Landes of Raleigh, NC died on July 18, 2026 at the age of 83 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after a long period of declining health.
Andy was born in Greenwich, CT and attended public schools in New Canaan, CT until 1959 when his family moved to Charlotte, NC. After graduating from South Mecklenburg High School, Andy attended UNC-Chapel Hill and transferred to Campbell College in Buies Creek, NC where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Andy then served in the US Army from 1963-1967 primarily in Germany. Throughout the remainder of his life Andy’s main interest was helping others obtain their best Life and Health insurance. His other life long interest centered around sports, mainly tennis and being a free-lance sports writer for many years. More recently he was involved in helping organize the Cary Wheelchair Tennis Program.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents Chester Grey Landes and Dorothy Scofield Landes, his older brother Robert Grey Landes. He is survived by his sister, Emma Lou (Mac), sister-in-law Marlene, and nieces Lori, Sue, Julie, Leslie and their families.
The family wishes to thank the VA and Raleigh Rehabilitation Center for their months long care of Andy. City of Oaks Funeral Home is providing arrangements for Andy’s family. His remains will be buried next to his parents’ graves at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, NC. There will be no church or gravesite services.
