Anthony James (Jamie) Cuticchia Jr. PhD, JD

December 28, 1966- January 6, 2022, Cary, North Carolina
Jamie passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms on Thursday January 6, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Parris, and mother, Linda Cuticchia.
Jamie was highly intelligent, lively, driven and accomplished. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland, he completed his PhD at the University of Georgia. He was recruited as one of the youngest professors at John’s Hopkins University where he helped spearhead the curation of data for Human Genome Project. He also spent time in private industry, and at additional academic institutions. In 2009 he completed his JD degree spurred on by the desire to integrate his biological expertise with the practice of law. He worked with the biotech industry and provided pro-bono services to underserved members of the community.
Jamie was well known for his sense of humor, but not for his ability to navigate or read maps. He spoke at multiple conferences around the world and was recognized as a leader in his field.
Although his battle with cancer was short, he gave it his all. He will be sadly missed by the lives he touched during his short lifetime.
